Hospital parking

Parking management for hospitals and care facilities

Lexoh combines parking software with kiosks, credential readers and barrier controls for public and staff parking. Define visitor payments, recurring staff access and assistance with the facility team, then scope each entrance. Restricted and emergency circulation must follow the facility’s separate operating plan.

Choose the right scope

Choose a system for public stays and staff access

Hospital parking management serves patients and visitors staying for different lengths of time, alongside staff who need recurring access. Plan payment control for charged parking and permits for approved staff. Review restricted entrances separately with the facility; public parking equipment does not define emergency or clinical circulation.

Staff permits

Manage eligibility and shift access independently of patient and visitor records.

Give each arrival a defined route

A public parking lane must be understandable to an unfamiliar driver. Staff may need recurring access across changing shifts, while restricted routes belong to a separate operating plan. Document these journeys with the facility team; the parking system does not replace emergency-access procedures.

Decisions to confirm in the project scope
Arrival or userPolicy to defineDesign consequence
Patients and visitors How are short visits and longer stays charged? Provide understandable payment and help instructions.
Recurring appointments Who approves a repeat-visit entitlement? Define the period and evidence needed without collecting unnecessary clinical details.
Staff How do shifts and temporary assignments affect rights? Define which staff members qualify, when access is valid and how temporary assignments end.
Restricted circulation Which routes must stay outside public parking control? Review vehicle paths and operating procedures with the responsible facility teams.
From policy to the lane

Resolve exceptions before they reach the exit

01

Make the first visit understandable

Plan signs, stopping positions, credential presentation and payment in sequence. Review the route with someone who has never visited. The driver should know where to go and how to ask for help before reaching a closed barrier.

02

Separate approvals from payment assistance

Name the people authorized to issue repeat-visit passes, approve parking discounts or resolve payment problems. Define the parking information each operator needs, and keep clinical details out of the parking brief.

03

Test continuity with the operating team

Document equipment or network interruption procedures, who can intervene and how events are reconciled afterward. Confirm the selected equipment’s behavior rather than assuming every lane continues to accept every credential during an outage.

Specify the public lane and the staff lane separately

01

Visitor payment equipment

Select the payment location and supported methods before choosing kiosk modules. Review where a driver receives a ticket or presents a credential, pays, requests help and reaches the exit. A proposed validation must be demonstrated with the selected payment configuration.

02

Recurring staff access

Select readers and credentials for staff entrances and define permit expiry, temporary assignments and replacement vehicles. Existing badges need a technology and interface review before they can be included in the parking system.

03

Operator view and assistance

Lexoh Security Center’s illustrated device view combines entry events, camera context and barrier commands. Specify operator permissions, call routing and assistance coverage for the facility. Test a failed payment and an unavailable connection with the team that will respond.

Planning example

A shift change meets afternoon visiting hours

Consider a facility where staff departures overlap with public arrivals. The design should keep payment assistance from holding up the staff route where the lane layout permits separation. A temporary staff member needs an approved end date, while a recurring visitor may need a different entitlement. Test these cases alongside an expired right and a payment problem. The example is an operational planning exercise, not a statement of a Lexoh hospital deployment.

Prepare the scope

Prepare the parking brief with the facility team

01

A lane plan distinguishing public parking, staff areas, loading and restricted circulation.

02

Approved tariffs, repeat-visit rules, validation authority and the information each operator needs.

03

Assistance coverage, equipment-interruption procedures and the facility’s own access requirements for review by the responsible teams.

Hospital parking questions

Questions to settle before selecting the equipment and configuration.

Yes. Plan separate user groups, validity periods and zones, then confirm their implementation in the selected system. Physical separation depends on the available lanes; software rules cannot create a second traffic route.

The parking brief should identify the minimum information needed to authorize a vehicle or stay. A parking entitlement need not describe a diagnosis or treatment. Have the facility define data access and retention responsibilities.

Define who approves the benefit, what it changes and how it is recorded. Validate the chosen tariff or validation workflow with the payment configuration; avoid assuming all billing arrangements are available without review.

Separate public revenue lanes, staff entrances, validation points and assistance coverage. Existing cabling, phased construction, payment setup, training and acceptance sessions affect the scope. Request a lane-by-lane proposal rather than a single price per parking space.

Prepare a lane-by-lane transition with the facility and installer. Identify temporary routes, which old credentials remain valid, when payment changes and who supports each phase. Acceptance checks and an agreed recovery procedure should precede each cutover.

Review the actual journey with the facility’s accessibility team and users: signage, approach, screen readability, controls, payment and help. Check the selected equipment and installation against the project’s accessibility requirements. A software feature list alone does not establish an accessible route.

Lexoh combines cloud management with an offline mode. Its mesh network lets site devices communicate without an internet connection. Continued parking access depends on powered equipment and locally available permissions. Test staff credentials, visitor assistance and recovery of access changes with the facility team. Online payment authorization and remote assistance can have separate connectivity requirements; emergency circulation remains governed by the facility’s operating plan.
